When did you begin your journey with Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort?

I started my journey with Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort in September 2018, through a Food and Beverage apprenticeship programme in corporation with Northern Regional College.

What made you choose the Food & Beverage apprenticeship?

It was the year of my A-levels and I was not entirely sure if I wanted to go to university at that point and wanted to keep my options open; so I started looking for apprenticeships. Hospitality runs in my family, and I figured I would give it a go and ended up loving it and have been here ever since.

What has been your progression?

Throughout my time at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort, I have completed internal and external training. I started with a level 2 NVQ in Food and Beverage, since then I have completed multiple wine trainings, Food Safety trainings, and some more miscellaneous e.g. Sign Language. I am currently completing a Level 3 NVQ in Supervision and Leadership in Hospitality. During my apprenticeship, I was given the opportunity to work in different food and beverage outlets in the resort; these included afternoon tea, our Italian restaurant and banqueting.

What do you love about working at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort?

What I love the most about working at Galgorm is the friendships you make, I know it sounds incredibly cheesy but it is true. Everyone is willing to help where they can, even if it is not necessarily their job. As someone walking straight out of education into their first job it was so nice to have such a welcoming and warm environment around me.
