We offer medical assessments with Dr Mottram where you will discuss ways of pollen avoidance and importantly the list of possible treatments which are wide and varied, with many being tried and tested by good clinical research.

The core of treatment is usually antihistamine medication. Normally taken every day from early spring until late summer. They come as tablets, liquid medicine, nasal drops and sprays, and eye drops. Steroids may also be used in the form of nose drops, sprays, eye drops and for many years some people have depended on an injection of steroids or a very short course of tablets. In more recent years desensitisation using multiple injections or oral wafers of specific allergens have been used successfully by immunology specialists to prevent the return of the condition.

Any medication prescribed or issued is only done so after a thorough medical consultation with our Doctor. We in no way promote any specific prescription only medication. Additional fees may apply for prescriptions.

The appropriate management for this condition in an individual patient is for the prescriber and patient jointly to consider and this may include a number of medical factors as well as a range of therapeutic options.

On occasion you may be required to collect medication from a chemist after being issued a private prescription.
