What areas of food and beverage in the resort have you worked in?

I started in Gillies Restaurant as Food & Beverage Assistant in 2013, then I worked in Gillies Bar as Bartender. After a year, I was promoted to Gillies Bar Supervisor, then after a year, I was promoted again to Gillies Assistant Bar Manager. In 2017 I was promoted to my first manager position of Elements Manager for 9 months.  I have recently been promoted to Fratelli Restaurant Manager overseeing our large Fratelli restaurant within the Resort.

What is your best quality?

Staff management, I would say one of my strongest areas are my people skills, something I have found is that I can consistently get the support of my team even in different areas of the resort which is vital in running a department.  My genuine interest in the industry and in Food and Beverage are somewhat of a passion of mine so I am constantly wanting to gain more knowledge around these topics.

Have you completed any qualifications that have helped your career in Galgorm Resort and Spa?

Since working for Galgorm I have completed a number of qualifications NVQ level 2 in Food and Beverage Service, NVQ level 3 in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership, ILM level 5  in Leadership, Management and Motivation, WSET Wine and Spirits levels 1&2, I am progressing on to do my level 3 later this year, First Aid, Word and Excel courses, World Host (Customer Service), various workshops and training days on particular products.

What would you say to somebody thinking of joining the hospitality industry?           

If you like people and you’re a sociable person, it is the industry for you, Personally, I am very much a people person and there is no better industry for this sort of person to thrive in. Galgorm is a leading example of this industry and offers so much to its employees through training and development of its staff. They are huge fans of internal promotion and developing staff into their future management teams.  They are constantly developing the hotel with new ideas and expansions and is at the forefront of the market within Ireland.
