For the pudding, boil the water and the dates for 20 mins, until the dates are soft, add in the baking soda. Blend to make a puree. In a mixer, cream the butter and sugar utnil pale in colour. Add in the eggs, then gradually add the flour until fully incorporated, add in the date mix. Pour mix into a tray and cook in a pre-heated oven for 1 hr @ 160c.
For the sauce, place all ingredients in a pan. Bring to the boil, simmer for 5 minutes, until correct consistency.
