As the leaves begin to fall and the nights draw in, we asked Tara Moore, Head of Spa Operations at The Resort, for her top skincare tips this Autumn.
The seasons are changing, it's reaching the time of year when we delve into our wardrobes to hunt out our cosy jumpers, favourite coats and warming scarves. As our wardrobes change, so should our skincare routines. Many people maintain the same skincare routine year round, but what worked for your skin during the warmer summer months isn't necessarily going to be as effective now as your skin adapts to the harsher winds and rain and the increase in use of central heating now the chillier nights are setting in.
Whilst some of the skincare products you use should change for Autumn, you should continue to use sunscreen every day, it is important to protect your skin from the sun's rays, even when you can't see the sun! I use IMAGE Skincare's SPF32 every morning to keep my skin protected. Retinol is a fantastic product to add to your skincare routine, but if you have never used it before please gradually build it into your routine, and now as the sun is starting to fade, it's the perfect time to introduce retinol to help support intensive collagen production. I recommend IMAGE Skincare's Ageless Total Overnight Retinol Masque as a great way to introduce retinol into your skincare routine, remember to apply your sunscreen after using retinol.
It is important to ensure that your cleanser and moisturiser help your skin during the colder months, so it might be time to consider changing products for the change in seasons. SkinCeuticals Gentle Cleanser hydrates and comforts the skin, and SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 contains hyaluronic acid which helps to bind in moisture whilst promoting your skin's natural repair process.
Don't forget about your hands... the cold weather and use of cosy gloves will mean that your hands are in need of some TLC! I recommend Aromatherapy Associates Renewing Rose Hand Cream, which contains Sea Daffodil to help reduce the appearance of blemishes, and Omega 6 to soften and support your skins natural ability to regenerate.
For the rest of your body, it is important to exfoliate. Use the Aromatherapy Associates Body Brush each morning before your shower to remove dead skin cells, stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage, and brighten your skin. After your shower, apply Aromatherapy Associates Renewing Rose Body Gel for hydrated, refreshed and plumped skin.
