The Thermal Village & Spa at Galgorm, Ballymena named winner at prestigious industry awards

The Thermal Village & Spa at Galgorm, Ballymena has been named a winner at the World Spa and Wellness Awards 2018.

The Thermal Village & Spa at Galgorm, Ballymena has been recognised as one of the leading spa and wellness providers in the world and announced as the Resort Spa of the Year: Western Europe & Scandinavia at the World Spa and Wellness Awards.

Launched in 2012, the awards recognise and reward the work that spas do across the globe, honoring hotel and resort spas in five regions: Western Europe & Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Middle East &Africa, North & South America and Asia & Australasia. One of the leading honors in the industry, the awards acknowledge excellence of care, service and standards and aim to inspire spas around the world and raise global industry standards.

Organised by the UK-based Professional Beauty group, which has hosted spa and beauty awards for two decades, the World Spa & Wellness Awards incorporate a thorough and independent judging process in which all spas are assessed by experienced industry professionals.

Eve Oxberry, Head of Editorial for World Spa & Wellness magazine, said: “Being crowned as a winner at the World Spa and Wellness Awards is an accolade to be truly proud of. The judging process is one of the most rigorous in the industry as spas must prove their commitment to providing excellent facilities and innovative treatments delivered with technical expertise. We look at every aspect of their business and mystery shop each and every spa. I’d like to extend my congratulations to The Thermal Village & Spa at Galgorm, Ballymena for offering an outstanding customer experience.”

The Resort Spa of the Year category celebrates resort-based spas that go above and beyond to provide treatments that are personalised and perfectly executed, in relaxing and beautifully designed surroundings.

All finalists have been assessed by a panel of independent industry experts, including an official judge who visited the properties, looking at their performance across a wide range of criteria.

The winners were announced at a glamorous black-tie dinner on Sunday, February 25 at Tobacco Dock in London, where the winners of the Professional Beauty Awards will also be revealed. As well as providing an opportunity to celebrate, the event also allowed guests to network with the world’s leading spas, salons and product houses, grow their industry community and develop professional relationships that last a lifetime.

On collecting the award, Tara Moore and Louise Mitchell from The Thermal Village and Spa, said, “We’re pretty shocked at winning this award as there was some really stiff competition, so we didn’t expect to win at all. We’d love to thank everybody who works so hard at the spa, seven days a week, as well as our investors. These awards are huge in Northern Ireland and across the industry. It’s just amazing.”
