There's a Gin Festival coming to the NI Open...

01 August 2017

The Challenge Tour makes its anticipated return to Ireland for the second event of the Irish golfing calendar. Taking place at Galgorm Castle Golf Club, the Galgorm Resort & Spa NI Open presented by Modest! Golf tees off Thursday 10th August to Sunday 13th August in what is set to be an unmissable tournament for all the family.

While all eyes are set to be on the coveted prize, we have our eyes on a particular star attraction; the arrival of a Gin Festival! You read that correctly. In a year of firsts for the tournament, including Shootout Sunday, Galgorm Resort & Spa are bringing the magic of the Gin Library to The NI Open. If the sound of Gin hasn’t got your heart racing, we have pulled together five reasons why you should make the Galgorm Gin Festival your 19th hole destination…

1. A Local Affair

Unless you’ve been residing under a rock (or labouring away practicing your putt), you would be hard pressed to miss the Gin revival of late and to tie in with the regional tournament, we’re shining a spotlight on local gems. From Belfast’s own Jawbox, to a gin named after it’s bovine namesake, we will be showcasing a treasure trove of gin delights. Renowned the world-over, we’re bending the rules and including Bombay Sapphire, for good measure.

2. The Spirit of Galgorm

Proud hosts to a calendar of Gin Evenings and home to over 350+ gins, from the lesser-known artisan botanical-infusions, to the classic fail-safes, Galgorm’s mixologists bring the spirit and essence of the award-winning Gin Library to the NI Open to deliver a unique experience for visits and spectators.

3. G+Tee - The Perfect Serve

Consistently named among the Top 3 Parklands in Northern Ireland, Galgorm Castle Golf Club is the perfect course to tee-off any golfing itinerary. There is simply no better way to conclude a jaunt around the course and post-round analysis than with signature serves and live entertainment while soaking up the atmosphere. We’ll cheers to that!

4. Live Entertainment

Nothing says Galgorm Gin Club like the dulcet tones of soulful jazz and swing. From 6pm each evening, visitors can expect live entertainment to remedy those missed putts!

5. Star of the Show

Incase we hadn’t made it clear. There will be gin and plenty of it! To enjoy responsibly, of course.

The Gin Festival takes place Friday 11th 2pm - 8pm and Saturday & Sunday 12noon - 8pm.
Find us at the 19th hole (conveniently located in the Marquee beside the 18th green).
