Summer Is Calling... | Things To Do
It’s a well-known fact that Summer in Northern Ireland can appear when you least expect it (and more often than not, when holiday allowances are running low). The Monday morning slog to the office complete with blanket scarf can quickly become Tuesday’s lunchtime excursion for an icy treat, all with compliments to the sun.
Having just experienced a solid two days and counting, of pure Vitamin D, we’ve been left feeling inspired, excited and quite frankly a little delirious (but mainly inspired) to share our recommendations for your upcoming visit. You know what they say: preparation is key!
BBQ’s, beer gardens and balmier evenings encompass the spirit of the season and if ever there were a time to marvel at the splendor of the emerald isle, it’s certainly the summer months! From the zen seekers longing to relax and restore balance, to the foodie daydreaming of a dining escape, we have something for everyone.
Summer ‘Me’ Time
For an afternoon of indulgence, celebratory or simply “I deserve this”, it doesn’t come much sweeter than Afternoon Tea in the surroundings of The Conservatory. The bespoke glass creation beautifully frames memories with friends and family over a towering selection of sweet and savoury delights. Show-stopping delectable combinations including strawberry and elderflower cheesecake and lemon and raspberry macaroons shine a spotlight on the fruits of the season.
Summer Skin Saviour
After months of layering up those cosy knits, it’s time to shed the thermal layers. Often a thought that fills us with dread, our wonderful Spa Therapist Jade has just the solution for you. Months of central heating can leave our skin dull and gasping for hydration. Jade suggests spoiling your skin with our Lime & Lemongrass body treatment, encompassing an invigorating salt scrub to buff away dead skin cells and reveal the radiance beneath. Oh, and for those on the hunt for a quick refresh, VOYA’s Ritzy Spritzy Facial Mist offers a cooling moisture boost that is perfect for on-the-go. A day trip handbag essential.
Doubles or Singles?
No no, we’re not talking Gin this time. Dust off your Tennis whites and give it your all on the courts during your stay - the perfect precursor to a feast in Gillies (psst, have you tried their new menu?). If you don’t fancy your chances as the next Murray or Williams, get in the spirit of the Irish Open with a leisurely round of golf on our very own 9 hole course. Opportunists! This is your chance to escape and relax in the Thermal Village while your other half is preoccupied.
Say Hello To More
With rugged coastlines scenic sights to behold, it’s no wonder the Causeway Coastal Route has been described as one of the Top Five Road Trips Worldwide. Spoiled for choice and right on our doorstep, our concierge team would be happy to help you plan your day-trip to one of the countries breathtaking attractions. From Carrick-a-rede rope bridge to the anticipated re-opening of The Gobbins or perhaps Ballintoy Harbour for the Game of Thrones fans among us; say hello to more unforgettable views.
Long or short, dry or sweet, I think we can all agree that a gin is never more welcome than in the warmer months. A haven for gin enthusiasts, The Gin Library at Galgorm offers guests the freedom to pair their G to their T with a host of local and international spirits. To make your choice that little bit easier, we’ve enlisted Bar Manager Matthew to enlighten us with his edit of perfect summer serves you can enjoy in the surroundings of The Gin Library at Galgorm.
