What is your job?

I’m a spa therapist since January 2006 at Galgorm.

How did you begin your career in the beauty industry?

From the age of 20 I worked in the pharmaceutical industry where I advised clients on their skin care. I realised that I like it and so I did a beauty course.

Describe a typical day as a Skin Expert in The Spa at Galgorm?

I like to get in early and review what guests I have for the day ahead; some can be repeat guests which is great as I can see the improvements in their skin from my recommendations.

It is also nice to see new faces, this means I can spend time using the skin scanner to see how I need to adapt their treatment and tailor the treatment to their needs.

It can be a busy day of treatments, my day certainly goes in quickly!

What fuelled your interest in the spa sector, leading to your role at Galgorm?

I enjoy having a balance of doing facials and massages, hence why I decided to complete my course to become a Therapist. I love the Spa environment as it is much more relaxed, calming and luxurious than the salon environment

What is your favourite part of your job role?

I enjoy having the ability to offer my clients the support they need in finding the right products for their skin type. I also love seeing my clients delighted with immediate results after a treatment.

What treatment would you recommend?

For a client who wants a body massage I would recommend a Quartz treatment on our amazing warm bed and for a client who’s looking for a facial I’ll recommend a Skinceutical Facial at the Skin Clinic.

If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three products would you have with you?

I would definitely bring with me the products what I use every day.

What are your three top tips to maintain healthy skin?

• The most important is to protect your skin using SPF generously and reapply every two hours or often.

• Cleanse the skin twice before bedtime and never sleep with make-up on.

• Have a healthy diet and drink plenty of water.

Do you have a favourite treatment?

My favourite treatment is The Quartz Treatment where you can enjoy the heat of the crystals bed and poultices.
