Tell us a little about how you met & talk us through the proposal
We met on a night out in Moira, instant connection and before we knew it, we were through 4 years of memories...
Valentine’s Day 2024, we walked along the Portstewart strand, and Stuart got down on one knee!
Ceremony
We had our ceremony in the Phantom house just below the Great hall/ Renaissance suite. It was a small gathering with 108 guests, lead by Pastor James Clarke, the bridesmaids, flower girls and brides were walked down the aisle to the live piper, who is the bride's uncle.
Reception
The Renaissance Suite, a short walk from the ceremony. We decided to keep the room decor as simple and elegant as possible, making our own decorations such as the ‘remembrance pallet’ with those who were close to us but sadly couldn’t be there.
We had 2 live singers in between the ceremony and call to dinner, along with a selfie mirror, which helped to create and build an atmosphere.
As it’s a long wait, and we were worried about hunger, we added several platters of sandwiches and of course, tea/coffee/prosecco. We individually packed sweets and popcorn with handmade stickers with our names on them, for everyone to enjoy.
Why Galgorm?
We had fond memories of going to the Galgorm throughout the years, and our hearts were set on having our special day there. I fell in love with the Galgorm at my aunt's wedding almost 15 years ago. I love the serenity of the spa and the peace found within the grounds. In the span of our relationship, we have relaxed, dined and stayed multiple times and really fell in love with it before wedding/rings were on the cards. It was a no-brainer when it came to choosing the location, it truly is a second to none resort.
Tell us the most memorable part of your day
Louise - it would have to be getting ready at one of the lodges with all the bridal party and hair/make up etc., something about the river in the background and the peace knowing we are so close to the ceremony, the panic was kept to a minimum.
Stuart - Seeing it all come together when we both entered the Renaissance Suite, was truly breathtaking. All of the planning was worth it. The day went seamlessly, the whole staff along with Jenny and Paul worked brilliantly and were so attentive.
