Megan & Richard's Wedding
The Couple
Tell us a little about how you met
Richard and I met through our mutual friend, Adam, in our local pub 7 years ago. I was living in Newcastle-upon-Tyne studying at university at the time but had come home for a visit. We ended up chatting all night and Richard asked me if I wanted to go out for a meal the following day. It all started from there!
Talk us through the proposal
I did a lot of traveling around the South of Ireland during my summer holidays at uni but I'd never been to the North and it was somewhere I was really wanting to visit. For our 4 year anniversary, Rich had planned a surprise trip to Belfast. I was totally clueless he was up to anything! We arrived in Belfast and headed to the Giants Causeway, I still didn't click anything was going on and decided to change out of my nice clothes into comfy clothes and trainers - much to Richard's dismay! We got halfway down the Causeway to a small area where it was just the two of us. Richard sat on the rock next to me and asked if we could be any happier together, as I replied no he spun around onto one knee and asked if I would be his wife. I couldn't believe it but of course, said yes! He then whisked me off to Galgorm, which was totally unexpected, where we had a gorgeous meal in the River Room complete with champagne, and walked around the amazing grounds before finishing the night listening to the live music in the bar.

Why Galgorm Resort & Spa
It's unrivaled. As soon as you drive into the grounds, the scenery is just breathtaking. The resort itself is incredible, the spa, the food, the staff, the suite. It's faultless. It obviously now held a special place in our heart as it was where we celebrated our engagement but we just knew we wanted to share this incredible place with our family and friends. In fact, we booked it the following day!
What made you choose a Resort location
As we were traveling from England and we had guests coming from as far and wide as Canada and Australia we liked the fact the there was so much onsite for our guests to enjoy. Plenty of different dining options, the spa, Gillies bar for the guys, Fratelli's cocktails for the girls. It was the perfect location for our guests to make a holiday of it.
Tell us the most memorable part of your day
For me, it was sitting outside with my new husband, just the two of us. Frankie our coordinator on the day brought us both a drink and we sat just reflecting on how amazing the day had been so far and the fact we were married!
Advice for future couples
Definitely, make time for yourselves even if it is just half an hour. Take time to reflect on your day because when people say it goes so quick, it really does. Don't sweat the small stuff, it doesn't matter on the day. Just enjoy it.
