Galgorm Crowned AA Best UK Spa


AA Hotel & Hospitality Services is proud to announce the launch of its new initiative, hotel spa awards that recognise and celebrate the standards of 174 hotel spa facilities across the UK.

Following a careful selection process, the AA inspectors have identified the best spas across the country. Hotels with an AA Best UK Spas stand out as exceptional and exemplary spas delivering outstanding wellness experiences while those with an AA Recommended Spa award demonstrate a quality spa provision with high standards of customer care and cleanliness. By spotlighting exceptional spa offerings across the UK, the AA’s spa awards provide consumers with a definitive guide to the highest quality and rejuvenating hotel retreats the country has to offer.

The full curated collection of the finest spas including all AA Best UK Spas and AA Recommended Spa awards can be viewed on the AA’s travel website at ratedtrips.com/best-uk-spas. There’s so many to enjoy over the festive period and New Year and well into 2024.

What makes a spa best or recommended?

The AA’s aim is to showcase member establishments that have noteworthy spas worth visiting and are a key part of the hotel experience. These awards are supported by the annual inspections and experience of the UK hospitality landscape. Inspectors’ quality assess elements such as: reception, changing rooms, wet areas, gyms and treatment rooms, where quality and condition of these areas is the key driver.

Spas come in all different shapes, sizes and styles however all featured spas will have the following standards:

· Dedicated reception and staff 

· Several treatment rooms and a broad range of spa treatments 

· Its size should be appropriate to the hotel

· Dedicated changing rooms

· Towel and robe provision

· Variety of areas which may include but not all: pools, hot tubs, hydrotherapy pools, thermal suites, relaxation lounges, outdoor space, food and beverage, gym, studios and wellness activities

· Sustainability policies advertised and demonstrated 

· Accessibility guide published for spa areas 

· Effort made to include accessible needs in spa facilities/design/layout.

AA Recommended Spa Award in addition looks for:

· High quality spa provision

· High Standards of guest care

· High standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

AA Best UK Spa Award also looks for:

· Exceptional and luxurious facilities

· Signature features

· An exemplary spa experience

· A high-quality food and beverage offering

· A distinct retail offering

Galgorm Unveils New Cottage Collective Accommodation


Commanding an enviable position on the beautiful Causeway coastal route and within lush countryside, is the prestigious Northern Irish property of Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort. During Spring 2019, the world-class hotel will unveil its new country cottage accommodation offering.


Guests to Galgorm will now have the option of staying within a collection of 17 individual country cottages within the stunning parkland estate. Each is set within its own pretty garden location, boasting rural countryside views and all closely linked to the picturesque River Maine. This new group-friendly accommodation offering, due to launch during late April, will offer guests access to all the high-end amenities of the world class estate, but within a more secluded, private setting.


Each cottage has been designed to be contemporary yet comfortable, boasting spacious open plan living areas, which include a fully equipped kitchen, lounge and dining space, perfect for modern day R&R.
The bathrooms are luxe and stocked with spa products, each with bath/shower combined. The bedrooms within The Cottage Collective are luxurious and benefit from full housekeeping attention.


Set within a beguiling natural space, relax and stay with friends and family and even your dog and explore pleasant riverside and woodland walks, straight from your own front door. Or if on business, catch up with work within a peaceful and secluded location.


Select from Nine – 1-bedroom cottages (with 1 double bed or 2 singles) suitable for two adults.


Seven – 2-bedroom cottages (with either 2 double beds or 4 single beds) maximum of four adults.


One – 3-bedroom cottage (with either 3 double beds or 6 single beds) maximum of six adults.


These country cottages are in addition to the existing log cabins which line the riverside.


Red Oaks, set within its own grounds, is a further exclusive-use option, ideal for larger parties up to twelve guests. An original building, it has been completely refurbished and now boasts a most opulent stay with a spacious and modern kitchen and dining room, for family or group entertaining.


Relax also beside the open fire in the living room during the Winter months or unwind in the hot-tub on the terrace, during warmer climes, all whilst overlooking the rush of the River Maine beyond.


Independent accommodation which offers unpretentious luxury, where the outdoors meets the indoors. This latest development marks the next chapter in the success story of Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort near Ballymena.


This particular project in its entirety (to include further spa additions at a later date) will represent an investment of over £14 million this will bring the total investment at the Resort to £50 million over the past 10 years.


The vision behind this continued growth is a commitment to enhancing the tourism infrastructure in Northern Ireland by delivering world-class facilities and providing an unrivaled customer experience.


Additional plans for the next phase include 64 new hotel bedrooms, an exclusive rooftop spa, added external spa garden facilities and an executive lounge.


In the last 12 months alone Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort has expanded its Thermal Spa Village to over 3 acres, with the addition of the Serenity Spa Garden with private hot tubs, Elements restaurant at the Halo Dome (a unique structure and one of only 5 in the world!) offering a unique robed dining experience as well as further investment to the 4 onsite restaurants, boasting a truly extensive choice for guests.


This has complemented the success of the additional 48 bedrooms and luxury thermal spa facilities unveiled during 2015.
