The Couple

Tell us a little about how you met

We met on a night out in The Bot in Belfast (where every romantic love story starts). My sister knew Stevie from university and introduced us to each other

Talk us through the proposal

It was Christmas time in New York and it happened about half way through our week long stay. We had been sight seeing that day and decided go to Bryant Park outside Macy's with a coffee before we went back to the hotel. That's when he got down on one knee and proposed. He managed to pick the ring himself which was impressive.

Why Galgorm Resort and Spa

We have always loved the Galgorm and it's gorgeous grounds. As soon as we saw the Renaissance Suite we couldn't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. The style of the room matched with the views was exactly what we were looking for. We had heard lots of great reports about the service the wedding team provides to couples and they certainly did not disappoint. It's also only 30-40 minutes away from both of our homes so our guests didn't have to spend a lot of the day travelling.

What made you choose a Resort Location?

Having our wedding at a resort location made the experience that little bit more special for us in the lead up to the wedding. Stevie and I booked in to stay over to mark the wedding being a year away and my sister and I were able to use the spa a few days before the wedding to relax. A number of our guests also booked in for the night after the wedding to make full use of the spa facilities

Tell us the most memorable part of your day

This is a tough one. There are a few stand out moments of the day for us however, we will never forget how special the hotel manager, Frankie, made our day. He was the first to greet us and show us around the room. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for him on the day. A good example of this was...just before our first dance the train of my dress got wet outside and Frankie insisted that it should be dried to avoid any embarrassing moments on the dancefloor. He got on his hands and knees and dried it using the hand dryer. He was professional but also a good laugh which is exactly the kind of person you want taking care of you on the day

Advice for future couples

Make sure you dedicate a bit of time during the day where the both of can take some time on your own. It can be so easy to get caught up in the excitement with your friends and family but it's also nice to take a step back to take it all in and remember why everyone is here. It's also a good idea to speak to guests between courses at the meal. Gives you both more time for dancing later!
