Five Things We Loved This Month

There are two months in the year that engender a child-like excitement in our Wedding Planners like no other; a time where spirits are high and imaginations in overdrive. Those months in question are of course March and October, home to Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort’s seasonal Wedding Showcases. If you have attended our Wedding Showcases in the past, you will know it’s all in the detail. The red carpet is rolled out with each ceremony room and reception suite is decorated to inspire, all with the help of our team of Trusted Suppliers.

True to form, Sunday 13th October 2019 saw couples descend upon The Resort, unphased by the seasonally appropriate, yet cordially uninvited, October rain showers, in the name of all things wedding! At each showcase the Galgorm Team come together with our talented team of trusted suppliers to bring a particular vision to life, whether that’s an Autumnal, floral-laden Great Hall, or a contemporary Four Seasons Suite, accented with copper details. Between the ‘oohs’ and the ‘ahhs’, there were of course a selection of ideas that really caught our eye…

Pampas Details

The bohemian wedding detailing trend you never knew the name of – until now! It’s 2020’s answer to the coveted greenery and adds an effortlessly ethereal touch to your day. Add a little oomph to your bouquet with a subtle hint of pampas fronds for a relaxed vibe or hire a beautiful pampas arch for that instagrammable backdrop. The beauty in pampas lies therein it’s effortless, fuss-free nature. The neutral tones mean it’s difficult to go overboard with pampas grass and brides are opting to tie subtle accents in across their wedding; from table centrepieces, top table installations, even accessorizing their cake with a nod to pampas - as seen at our Autumn Wedding Showcase on cakes from The Cake Parlour.

Bridal Styling

This Autumn we brought fashion to the fore as we held Wedding Inspiration, Styled by Rebecca McKinney. Transforming the marquee into a Wedding Inspiration lounge, Rebecca hosted an afternoon of bridal fashion with four themed sessions; Classic/Traditional, Vintage/Deco, Boho and Glam. Luxury bridal boutique Castle Couture provided the lust-worthy Jenny Packham, Jesus Peiro and Suzanne Neville gowns, while Hire Class NI kept the grooms looking particularly dapper with options from Remus Uomo. Our gorgeous models for the day, who were made up by Jennifer Ireland with hair by Victoria Lagan, roamed the marquee while our panel of experts chatted through tying a theme together, right from room styling, to stationery, entertainment, accessories and more.

Chandelier Garden

The rain didn’t dampen spirits as The Chandelier Garden made its Wedding Showcase debut! Tucked away behind the iconic rhododendron bushes, led by a meandering path, lays our first foray into outdoor ceremonies. The enchanting forest garden itself is tastefully laden with chandeliers and festoon lighting to offer a backdrop akin to something of a photographer’s dream! Autumns’ low laying sun peering through the hedgerows makes for the perfect golden hour shots in and around the garden, while the full-bodied branches of trees in Spring will create a one of a kind backdrop, leaving your guests guessing as to where you got *the shot*.

Donut Bar

Feeling peckish? Donut mind if I do! Donut walls have long been the reserve of alternative wedding feasting, but for something a little less DIY and a lot more wow-factor, we have introduced our Donut Bar, perfect for an arrival nibble to keep your guests suitably sustained while waiting to be called for dinner. If cake isn’t your thing, a donut bar is a lovely alternative with myriad options for guests - which are of course tried and tested with our Wedding Planners - including Salted Caramel, Vanilla Custard, Chocolate Hazelnut, Apple, Jam or Plain.

Gin Bar

Home to Ireland’s largest Gin Collection, it only made sense to offer our couples everyone’s spirit of choice as an arrival drinks option! Including your mixers and garnish (because lets face it, is it really a gin serve nowadays without the perfect garnish), couples choose their gin of choice; from classics such as Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray 10 and Hendricks, to local favourites Shortcross, Jawbox and Boatyard. Our banqueting team will recommend the perfect garnish and accompanying London Essence Tonic to compliment. What a way to let the celebrations be-gin!
