Lizi and Craig's Wedding
The Couple
We met through a friend when we were sweet 16, back when MSN was the cool thing to chat on. We would sit up all night talking to each other. From a little chat on MSN, our love blossomed.
Talk us through the proposal
Craig proposed on our 4 year anniversary on the 4thof July 2011. We travelled all the way up to Malin head that morning, where he popped the question. Craig had always wanted to take me to the top of the world but the closest he could get me was Malin head (the northernest peak in Northern Ireland). It was a very beautiful scene on top of a cliff overlooking the ocean where he got down on one knee. There was also champagne at the ready close by.
The Setting
We chose Galgorm because of the beautiful grounds and how everything was so luxurious. I truly felt like a princess on my wedding day. We absolutely loved the phantom house where we had our ceremony as we loved its rustic charm and was a very romantic setting. Galgorm Resort and Spa now has a very special place in our hearts.
What made you choose a Resort Location?
We chose a resort location, as we liked the fact that everything was all in the one place, ceremony and reception. We also liked that there was plenty of rooms for our guests to stay over without having to travel.
Tell us the most memorable part of your day
There was not one moment we weren’t both smiling; I can’t express how happy we both were. We cried (happy tears) and laughed the whole day. One moment that will stand out for us both was Craig’s dad’s speech. Just after my dad’s fairly long speech, Craig’s dad Paul got up to say a few words, we didn’t realise how few words these would be. He was up and down within 20 seconds; the whole speech fitted onto a post note, which Craig thought was bullet points. It literally had everyone in fits of laughter!
The Dream Team
Karen was very helpful from the moment we booked. We booked our wedding 3 years in advance with Galgorm and Karen was always supportive and welcoming each time we met with her.
The Little Cupcakery
I have always wanted a naked cake for my wedding. I always remember saying to my dad before the wedding I was going for a naked cake, I’m not sure if he knew what we were going for! We went for a 3 tier cake – lemon, vanilla and strawberries and champagne sponge.
Flowers
The flowers for the venue and bridesmaids were from Sally’s Floral Studio. My bouquet was a bespoke ribbon and button design created by Innocent Chaos.
