Susan & David's Wedding
Tell us a little about how you met?
We have a mutual friend and had been in each other’s company a few times but I didn’t think there was anything more to it! One night in Katy Daly’s we got talking and realised we had a lot in common and have a very similar sense of humour and it went from there!
Talk us through the proposal
We arranged to go away to Castle Leslie for Valentine’s day but had agreed to not buy any presents. We had gone for a walk, but it was freezing and we had dinner reservations so we didn’t stay outside for long and came back to get ready for dinner. I had gone for a shower and when I came out David had lit loads of red tea light candles and put them all around the room, I was a little taken aback as I had no idea what was going on! He told me that even though we had agreed to not buy presents he had gotten me something. Intrigued, I unwrapped a box to discover the most beautiful ring inside and when I looked up David was on his knee in front of me and he asked me to marry him! I wasn’t looking my best with wet hair and mascara running down my face! But I wouldn’t change a thing.
We had looked at a few venues but nothing had felt right. I hadn’t been to the Galgorm since my high school formal, so we arrived up for a bridal showcase one Sunday with my parents. The Resort was busy with people and it was hard to have a proper look around, so we spoke with Rose and arranged to come back the following day for a one to one show around. I was smitten within 5 minutes and knew nothing else was going to compare, so we booked there and then!
What made you choose a Resort location?
David’s family is from Guernsey and I have friends and relatives in Scotland and England so we wanted somewhere that everyone could be close together. The grounds are stunning and everyone at the Resort is so lovely and we knew they would ensure we had the most amazing day. The Spa may have also helped in my decision!
Tell us the most memorable part of your day?
There are so many it is hard to pick just one! Saying our vows in front of all our friends and family and walking out of the church together was very surreal! Also, when Stefan brought us into the Suite for the first time and we saw our cake and the balloon table numbers we were completely blown away, everything looked so much better than I could ever have hoped!
Advice for future couples?
Don’t stress the little things! David and I realised that all the silly things we had been stressing about didn’t enter our heads on the day. At the time, they seem so important but on the day, none of it matters and everything will fall into place, enjoy every minute!
